Description
American Traveler is hiring an Invasive Cardiac Tech for a Cardiac Cath Lab position at a Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-designated hospital in Downers Grove, IL, requiring 3 years of Cath Lab experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Work in a cardiac cath lab with 3 procedure labs and 1 hybrid OR at a 285-bed Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-designated, Primary Stroke Center hospital in Downers Grove, IL
- Adult inpatient and outpatient interventional cardiac patient population only
- Approximately 12–15 procedures per day
- Patient ratio of 1:1; room staffing is typically 1 RN + 2 Techs or 2 RNs + 1 Tech per room, with the hybrid OR staffed by 3 team members (OR, Cath, and IR personnel)
- Procedures include diagnostic caths, interventional thrombectomy (Penumbra), stenting, right heart cath studies (reversibility, shunt runs, valve, ASD closure), structural procedures, device placements (Impella, IABP), AAA repair, TCAR, TAVR, and Watchman
- EP Lab procedures include generator exchanges, ablations, cardioversions, bedside TEE, cryo, loop recorders, and pacemaker placements from scratch
- Epic required; Epic Cupid preferred
- Equipment includes Zoll defibrillator, Philips fluoroscopy machine, Merge Hemodynamics, Datascope IABP, Alaris, and Pyxis
- 4x10-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- Approximately 7–9 on-call shifts per month, including overnight (5:30 PM – 7:00 AM), weekends (Friday 5:30 PM – Monday 7:00 AM), and possible holidays; 30-minute response time required
- Weekend rotation consists of on-call shifts only — no additional scheduled weekend shifts
- Holiday coverage is on-call only, based on need
- May float to IR depending on staffing needs
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of Cath Lab experience, with most recent experience within the last year
- ARRT or RT(R), IEMA, BLS, and ACLS required; RCIS preferred
- Active license required, if applicable
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in aseptic technique, sheath pulling, TR band placement and removal, line securement, and EKG/cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Experience with IABP and Impella required
- Candidate's middle name or initial, DOB, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate — no radius requirement
- Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
- Orientation includes 1 day of hospital orientation and approximately 1 week of on-unit orientation; Epic training or test-out option available
- Unit support includes a Charge Tech, Lab Coordinator, unit secretary, and 24/7 physician support; CNA and transporter availability varies by staffing
- Procedural scrubs are provided

- Self-scheduling is available for call shifts
