Company Profile

Sentient Medical Systems

Company Overview

Sentient is one of the nation's leading providers of intraoperative monitoring and neurodiagnostic services, supporting over 300 health care facilities and 800 surgeons with 24/7/365 coverage.

Sentient's mission is to provide exceptional health care services to medical practitioners through competence, quality, professionalism, and responsiveness, in order to achieve superior patient outcomes.

In the field of neurodiagnostics, we have developed a high-quality service delivery model that provides physicians and their patients readily available and low-cost tests of neurological function and perfusion. By providing these procedures on a wider scale, we are able to detect the presence of reduced cerebral perfusion, TIAs, PFOs, emboli, carotid stenosis, etc. in a cost-effective manner that will significantly improve short and long-term patient care as well as the patient’s quality of life.

Sentient operates based upon the University Medical Center model that incorporates clinical services, research, and education. Each area is mutually supportive so that the surgical neurophysiologists that provide our clinical services are trained by our doctoral-level education staff. The procedures that are administered are, in many instances, developed by our research division and which become industry standards. As a result, we are highly confident in their reliability and validity.

Company History

Sentient was founded in 1995 as one of the first providers of remote introperative monitoring. Our goal was to provide surgeons with high quality and reliable intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring services that, at the time, were in short supply.

We are constantly striving to provide our surgical neurophysiologists with the tools, training and experiences that prepare them for all types of surgeries. Additionally, all of our surgical neurophysiologists are supervised during surgery, in real-time, by consulting neurologists. By providing physician supervision, we maintain a surgical nuerophysiologist-consulting neurologist relationship that is traditional to medicine and which provides the surgeon and patient with an additional layer of information to improve surgical outcomes.
