Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Cardiac Cath Lab RN with at least 2 years of previous cath lab experience and active BLS and ACLS certification.
Responsibilities
- Work in an acute care setting within a Cardiac Cath Lab department
- The unit includes 2 labs and 6 pre/post beds
- Common case types include STEMI, stroke, drain placement, line placement, heart caths, peripheral angiograms, IVC placement, and temporary pacemaker insertion
- Average daily volume is 3 cardiac caths and 2 angiograms
- Use of Philips monitoring equipment and the Epic EMR system
- 8-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- On-call required 2-3 nights per week, every 3rd weekend, and 2 holidays per year
- Rare floating, will not be assigned patient care when floating
- Responsibilities include assisting with a variety of interventional cardiac and vascular procedures
- Must be able to function as part of a multidisciplinary team, including working with charge nurses and techs
- Unit-specific orientation is typically 1 week, covering 4 shifts
- Hospital scrubs are provided
- No COVID-19 vaccination required
- Negative drug screen required for all panels as the facility is a drug-free campus
- Local rates apply for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility
- No radius restriction for eligibility
- Charge nurse may take a patient assignment occasionally
Requirements
- Active RN license in IL or proof that application process has been initiated; license required if applicable
- Minimum of 2 years prior cardiac cath lab experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA required
- Ability to read tele strips and titrate IV drips
- Knowledge of most IV medications used in cath lab settings
- Experience with peripheral angiogram cases and a preference for IR and neuro intervention experience
- Experience with Epic EMR and Philips monitoring equipment preferred
- All certifications must be active at the time of consideration
