Description
Position Summary:
Leading orthospine group is seeking a CNIM to join their surgical support team. This role is critical in monitoring the integrity of neural structures during complex spine procedures. The ideal candidate will be CNIM-certified and comfortable with frequent travel to hospital locations across NYC, Brooklyn, and New Jersey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) during spine surgeries to assist in preserving neurological function
- Monitor and interpret somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEPs), motor evoked potentials (MEPs), electromyography (EMG), and other modalities as required
- Communicate real-time data to the surgical team, including any significant neurological changes
- Set up and calibrate monitoring equipment in OR environments prior to procedures
- Maintain accurate, detailed intraoperative records and prepare post-operative reports
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff to ensure patient safety
- Travel regularly to affiliated hospital sites in NYC, Brooklyn, and NJ
- Maintain CNIM certification and adhere to all applicable guidelines, including HIPAA and patient privacy regulations
Requirements
Qualifications:
- CNIM certification required (ABRET)
- Willing to train a newly certified CNIM
- Strong knowledge of neuroanatomy and IONM modalities
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in high-pressure OR environments
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to multiple hospital locations
- Reliable transportation and flexible schedule to accommodate early morning surgical starts
